GNAD board and staff members meet to build better working relations

Board and staff members of Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) have met to build relations. The aim of the meeting was to explore avenues in working more closely with GNAD constituents and in strengthening the Associations influence on national policies for the betterment of the Ghanaian Deaf Community. 

The team- building workshop was led by GNAD Partners- Joint Danida Project Managers-North and South Charlotte Torp Møller and Mr. Kwami Ansre respectively, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Ghana Federation of Disability Organisation (GFD) Moses Fordjour, as well as Danish Deaf Association Development Officer Kasper Beggman. The meeting, which is the second of its nature, was held on 13th – 15th February 2017 at the Windy lodge beach resort Winneba, in the Central Region. The first took place on 25th to 31st March 2012. The DANIDA project dubbed, ‘Strengthening the Disability Movement in Ghana’ is a joint project being implemented by Nine (9) organisations in Denmark and Ghana after years of bilateral collaboration between the various DPOs from Ghana and their counterparts in Denmark.  In Ghana, five organisations/partners namely, Ghana Blind Union (GBU), GFD, Inclusion Ghana (IG), Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) and GNAD are leading geographically in different districts. The overall objective of the joint project is to strengthen the entire disability movement in Ghana in order to promote and protect the rights of PWDs as outlines in the 1992 Constitution, PWDs Act and other major national and international legal frameworks.
